four wheelers

a four wheeler passed us on the main road and Lu Lu said "Mama is it APPROPRIATE for that four wheeler to be on the road?" APPROPRIATE!!! LOL

(I told her no it wasn't but out here it's pretty common)

on having twins

"Mama, if I have two boy twins I'm gonna name them John and Johnathon and if I have two girl twins I'm gonna name them Annie and Anna!"

the "alterations" lady

While passing thru the halls of church today, Lu Lu said "Mama, there's Tanner" and I said "who?"

She said, "you know, his mama did you alterations thing when you were pregnant."

I had no clue what she was talking about.....

So, I pressed further.

She said "you know when they put the ooey gooey stuff on your belly!"

(if you haven't figured out she was talking about the 'ultrasound' - LOL)

Thoughts on Horse Shows

....."horse shows ruin my life" - Lu Lu, age 7.

Hillbilly Rockstar

Left the beach condo for a night out and Lu was wearing white shorts. I thought I noticed pink undies showing thru her white shorts. I tried to get her to go back in to change and she said "it's ok Mom, there's all kinds of hillbillies here" Well, she had a point so I caved and let her go on in true hillbilly rockstar style.

What's the point?

Prior to going to the beach, we discussed going on a dolphin cruise. Lu Lu was adamant she did not want to go. We really weren't leaving her any choice. When she realized we booked the cruise, she was not happy. Her last moment of defiance came when she said "So what's really the point of the dolphin cruise anyway?"

(she went, she had fun, she got to drive the boat and she saw lots of dolphins....she got the point!)

Life Goals

Lu's big sister, Lib, says she wants to live in Foley, near the beach, and be a vet when she gets older. Lu Lu says she wants to live in Springville, Alabama (rural) and not have any more than FIVE kids! LOL At least that's better than when she said she wanted to live in an RV in our driveway with her boyfriend.

Little Crabby

Lu bought a hermit crab at the beach & named him Bubba. Real classy group we are!

Voices in our heads

Lu Lu said she's gonna miss the lady on the elevator at the condo - ummm y'all , she's talking about the voice that announced the floors. She is crazy!

Wrestle Mania

Lu said at supper tonight that she didn't want to marry a Doctor, she wants to marry a wrestler & be on TV when he has big matches. You just can't make this stuff up!

thoughts on Ninja's

(posted 6/10/08)

After the birth of Baby Bird, people began remarking about how similar she looked to both of her sisters (keeping in mind she and her two sisters don't share the same biological father).

So, we pulled out baby pics of both the girls and would make "comparisons". The other day I found Lu's hospital pics and had them laying in the living room. Lu looked at it and said "oh look at Baby Bird" and we told her that wasn't BB but that it was her.

She looked in disbelief at the picture and said "that's me?" and we said yes!

She continued to look at it and said "I look like a ninja!....a boy ninja!"

We burst out laughing at the fact she thought she looked like a "ninja" and asked her why? She said it was the position of her hands and that they looked like she was ready to "fight"!

We still aren't really sure why she felt like she looked like a BOY NINJA - lol, but it was too fun

Poverty

(posted 6/10/08)

Since I have been home for the past nine weeks on maternity leave, there have been many days that we have grabbed something out for lunch, gone thru a drive thru or picked up something from a little restaurant down the road.

The other day Lu asked what we were having for lunch and I replied "sandwiches". I had just gone to the grocery store and while there had picked up some lunchmeat so I thought we would just have sandwiches.

She looked at me in disbelief and said "What? Sandwiches? Are we poor?"

I couldn't help but laugh! But, what have we done that would make her 6 yr old mind think that because we are having sandwiches that we are "poor"? And just to be clear....we are not wealthy....maybe not impoverished but not wealthy - LOL

Esau and Jacob (from 9/26/07)

Lu has gone to a private, Christian school for the past two years. She went for K4 and is back for K5 this year. She is telling us so much more this year about what she is learning. One of the great things she learns are all the many bible stories and really cute bible songs.

Last night she sat down to tell me about Esau and Jacob. I could tell this was going to be good....so I asked her if I could type what she was telling me and she said yes. She really liked me typing up what she was telling me and the discussion got better and better by the minute.

Here's an excerpt of the conversation:

"Esau and Jacob were brothers. Esau was really hairy, all over, and his hair was red.

Rebeccah loved Jacob. Jacob loved to cook. Abraham and Sarah died. Jacob liked pulling pranks and he pulled a prank. Esau loved to hunt and fish. His daddy would say "go catch a deer" and Esau would throw the meat on the table to cook it.

So, um, Rebeccah -well, in another story Isaac's servant did a test, they poured coffee on their feet.

Esau smelled the beans that his brother cooked and that was when they pulled the prank and tomorrow we'll find out about the prank. This is all."

So, I got all of that - how about you? It was just precious!
